The Federal Aviation Administration’s Commercial Space Transportation Advisory Committee (COMSTAC) unanimously endorsed a recommendation to relocate the FAA’s Office of Commercial Space Transportation (AST) outside the FAA’s jurisdiction.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has determined that the existing airspace restrictions for most Florida launches were unnecessarily large and could be safely reduced, thanks to extensive risk analyses conducted for every launch in collaboration with the U.S. Space Force and space launch operators.

On 21 February 2023, the FAA granted Relativity Space a launch licence for the first launch of their Terran 1 rocket. The issued launch licence authorises Relativity to conduct pre-launch operations and launch operations at SLC-16. Since Relativity Space recieved its launch licence they have announced the launch date for the ‘Good Luck Have Fun’ (GLHF) mission, between 13:00-16:00 EST (18:00-21:00 UTC) on 8 March 2023.
