SpaceX has significantly reduced the price of its new V4 Starlink dish; originally set at $599, has been slashed to $499, with an additional “regional savings” program reducing it further to $299 for new subscribers in 27 states.

The $499 price point became visible today on Starlink's official service plan and checkout pages. Major retailers like Best Buy and Home Depot are also reflecting this $100 price cut on the Starlink dishes, although it's uncertain if this reduction will be permanent.

The company's actions suggest an aggressive pricing strategy to attract new users in the United States. Alongside the price cut, Starlink's official site launched a $200 “regional savings” discount, further reducing the price for new subscribers joining the residential service plan.

According to a new support page on the Starlink website,

“In the United States, new orders in certain regions are eligible for a one-time savings in areas where Starlink has abundant network availability. $200 will be removed from your Starlink kit price when ordering on online, and if activated after purchasing from a retailer, a $200 credit will be applied.”

A map on the same listing shows that this regional savings program is available to new customers in 27 states: Oregon, California, Nevada, Idaho, Utah, Arizona, Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Iowa, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, New York, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, Florida, and Hawaii.

To ensure the program is not misused, SpaceX's support page specifies,

“Customers who change their service address to an address that is not a regional savings area will be billed the amount of the regional savings.” Additionally, users are prohibited from transferring the Starlink account to another customer “until 120 days after the date the order is placed.”

This price reduction follows several strategies SpaceX has previously implemented to attract more Starlink users. These include offering the Starlink dish at $349 for select users in four US states and selling refurbished Starlink dishes for $399, though both programs have since been discontinued.

With this new pricing strategy, SpaceX appears poised to expand its Starlink user base significantly, making its satellite internet service more accessible to a broader range of customers across the United States.
