The UK is preparing to host its 2nd annual In-orbit Service, Assembly, and Manufacturing (ISAM) Conference; one of the most significant international gatherings in the field and this years its heading to ICC Belfast on June 4–6, 2025.
ISAM Conference 2025 will convene experts from government, academia, industry, and end-user sectors to explore the future of space-based services and manufacturing.
“We are delighted to announce the return of the ISAM Conference in 2025. The inaugural event exceeded all expectations, and we are excited to build on that success. ISAM offers enormous potential for the future of the space industry, and we aim to make this conference the premier platform for driving these innovations forward. Partnering again with the UK Space Agency will allow us to facilitate even greater collaboration and knowledge-sharing, further positioning the UK as a leader in this critical area of space.” - John Abbott, CEO of the Satellite Applications Catapult
What is ISAM?
In-Orbit Servicing, Assembly, and Manufacturing (ISAM) encompasses a broad range of space-based capabilities designed to enhance satellite longevity, construct large-scale structures in orbit, and develop novel materials using microgravity conditions. ISAM is a rapidly growing industry with applications spanning pharmaceuticals, advanced materials, consumer healthcare, sustainable energy, and high-speed global communications.
“Our modern society is increasingly reliant on satellite technology, but we know the Earth’s orbits are more crowded than ever before. In-orbit servicing, assembly, and manufacturing are high-growth areas which independent research suggests presents an £11 billion market opportunity for the global space sector.” - Paul Bate, CEO of UK Space Agency
IOSM to ISAM
Previously known as the In-Orbit Servicing and Manufacturing (ISOM) Conference, the event has rebranded to In-Orbit Servicing, Assembly, and Manufacturing (ISAM) to better reflect the growing scope of capabilities in the space sector. The name change was suggested on stage by a presenter on Day 1 of the first ISOM conference in May 2024.
ISAM Conference 2025
The ISAM Conference 2025 will bring together 500+ delegates, 25+ exhibitors, and numerous academic researchers to explore cutting-edge innovations and collaborations within the sector. Attendees will explore key developments in the industry through dedicated tracks, networking events, and strategic discussions.
On June 4, the focus will be on industry trends and collaboration, with sessions covering the future of in-orbit services, scaling manufacturing in space, the involvement of non-space industries, and national defence applications of ISAM.
On June 5, discussions will shift towards policy, sustainability, and investment. Sessions will examine the legal and regulatory frameworks for in-orbit services, sustainable space technologies, emerging markets and investments in ISAM, and legal, ethical, and strategic considerations for defence applications.
The conference will conclude on June 6 with a series of strategic roundtable discussions, covering topics such as standardizing in-orbit services and technologies, workforce development foresighting, cross-sector collaboration opportunities, and funding models for space startups and SMEs.
Attendees will also be invite to attend academic presentations showcasing the latest research in ISAM technologies and applications, networking events including Happy Hour & Satuccino for fostering industry connections, and an exhibitor showcase featuring breakthrough space technologies from top innovators
Past Presenters & Industry Leaders
ISAM Conference has previously attracted leading global organizations within the space industry. Companies that have participated include: Airbus, Axiom Space, Astroscale, Clearspace Today, Magdrive, OrbitFab, Rolls-Royce, Siemens, Space Solar, Thales Alenia Space, and dozens more.
The conference continues to serve as a platform for cross-sector collaboration, bridging the gap between space and non-space industries while driving advancements in orbital servicing and manufacturing.
Registration and Ticketing
Registration for ISAM 2025 is now open with the full conference pass granting attendees access to all sessions, networking events, technology exhibitions, academic posters, and roundtable discussions for £275 (£225 Early Bird Rate), and students can attend for £75 (£55 Early Bird Rate)
The ISAM Conference 2025 is set to be a must-attend event for space industry professionals, investors, academics, and policymakers. With a packed agenda covering cutting-edge technologies, regulatory challenges, and commercial opportunities, the conference aims to drive forward the next generation of space-based manufacturing and services.
As governments and private companies seek to capitalize on ISAM technologies, the UK is positioning itself as a leader in orbital servicing and space infrastructure development, with the ISAM Conference serving as a key enabler for collaboration and investment.
