1 minute readUpdated 12:01 AM EDT, Tue March 26, 2024

Galaxy 37, also known as Horizons-4, is scheduled for launch on August 3rd, 2023, with a window opening at 12:15 AM from SLC-40 at Cape Canaveral, utilizing the Falcon 9 rocket for its journey.

Galaxy 37 will introduce a dual-purpose payload that includes Ku-band beams, expanding data transmission and communication services. Additionally, it will carry a C-band payload, joining four previously ordered satellites from Maxar to transition Intelsat's broadband coverage. This initiative aims to free up spectrum resources for the advancement of 5G terrestrial wireless services.

Maxar, known for its reliable spacecraft, has built nearly 60 satellites for Intelsat since the 1970s, including the previous Galaxy satellites. The successful launch of Galaxy 35 and 36 on December 13, 2022, showcased the capabilities of the Maxar 1300™ platform.

Galaxy 37's imminent launch represents a significant step towards enhancing communication infrastructure and expanding broadband services, while also supporting the evolution of 5G networks
