Canada Assigns Joshua Kutryk To Starliner-1 Crew

The Canadian Space Agency (CSA) has selected Joshua Kutryk to serve on the upcoming Starliner-1 mission.

Joshua Kutryk is scheduled to launch aboard the Boeing CST-100 Starliner no earlier than the beginning of 2025, on what is planned to be the Starliner's first operational mission.

This will be Joshua's first mission to space, making him the fourth Canadian to stay on the ISS for a long duraction mission. He is also set to be the first Canadian to fly under NASA's new Commercial Crew Program, and first to fly on Starliner. 

Canada has had 2 Canadians on the ISS in the last 5 years, with CSA Astronaut David Saint-Jacques flying in 2019 and Mark Pathy's private visit to the ISS with AX-1 in 2022.

During an event at the CSA HQ in Quebec, the CSA President and Honourable Grancois-Philippe Champagne made the annoucement surrounded by CSA employess students and media representatives.

During the event, CSA also announced that Jenni Gibbons has been assigned to the Artemis II Backup Crew.
