Canada Assigns Jenni Gibbons To Artemis II Backup Crew

The Canadian Space Agency (CSA) has selected Jenni Gibbons to serve on the Artemis II Backup Crew.

The Canadian Space Agency (CSA) has selected Jenni Gibbons to serve on the Artemis II Backup Crew.

Should Jeremy Hansen, mission specialist on Artemis II be unable to be on his mission for any reason, Jenni Gibbons will be ready to step in for Canada. Securing Canada's position in the first crewed lunar mission in over 50 years.

Jenni's role as part of the Artemis II Backup Crew will be instrumental in shaping and validating astronaut training and processes for the entire Artemis program.

Jenni will also be trained to provide support to Artemis missions from the ground as a lunar capcom, a new role for Canada 

During an event at the CSA HQ in Quebec, the CSA President and Honourable Grancois-Philippe Champagne made the annoucement surrounded by CSA employess students and media representatives.

During the event, CSA also announced that Joshua Kutryk has been assigned to the Starliner-1 Crew, a long duration mission aboard the ISS.
