Relativity Space has made history successfully launching its Terran 1 launch vehicle for the first time.
Terran 1 launched at 11:25pm EDT from SLC-16 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida. Its succesfully pass Max-Q, MECO, and Stage Separation before suffering a mission-ending anomaly following stage separation. While no definitive cause has been identified, the issue currently remains with a failure to ignite the Aeon-1 Vacuum engine. Despite seeing an initial attempt to light the engine, gasses began to stop flowing out of the engine bell only a few seconds after Second Engine start.
The launch officer called for the flight termination system to engage following the loss of control of the second stage, and the remaining debris will safely reenter and splash down safely in the Atlantic Ocean.
