What Is Skyrora XL?

Skyrora XL is a three-stage orbital launch vehicle currently under development by Skyrora, a Scotland based launch provider.

First Stage

Skyrora XL’s first stage provides most of the thrust required to get the vehicle out of the dense atmosphere of Earth. The first stage uses 9 of Skyrora’s in-house developed Skyforce sea level engines to provide a combined liftoff thrust of 630kN.

The first stage separates at T+02:30 at an altitude of 61.4km and velocity of 2510m/s.

Second Stage

The second stage of Skyrora XL uses a single Skyforce vacuum engine with a specific impulse (ISP) of 306 seconds and produces 85kN of thrust.

Third Stage

Skyrora XL has a third stage to get the payloads to their final target orbit. This stage has the ability to relight its single LEO engine.

The third stage had a thrust of 3.5kN and an ISP of 305 seconds.

Engines

Skyforce

Skyforce will be used on the first stage of Skyrora's Skyrora XL rocket. It produces 70kN of thrust with an ISP of 250s.

Skyforce

Skyforce Vac will be used on the second stage of Skyrora's Skyrora XL rocket. It produces 85kN of thrust with an ISP of 306 seconds.

LEO

The third stage had a thrust of 3.5kN and an ISP of 305 seconds.
